Salt cells & chlorinators
Salt cells and chlorinator parts
Salt cells, flow switches and boards matched to your chlorinator, plus tablet feeders. Cells are expensive, so a tech helps rule out cleaning, salt and flow first.
Before you buy a cell
- Test the salt (Hayward and Pentair both say to confirm salt before adding a lot).
- Inspect and clean the cell as your manual describes.
Hayward says that if Inspect Cell stays on after a thorough cleaning with the right salt level, the cell may be worn and need replacing. Cells are expensive, so have a tech confirm it on video first. See salt cell codes.

Where to find the model and part numbers
- Pumps have a label on the motor with model, horsepower, voltage and amps. Variable-speed pumps also have a label on the drive.
- Heaters have a rating plate, usually inside the access panel or on the side, with model and serial numbers.
- Salt cells and chlorinators have a label on the cell and on the control box.
- Turn the pump off and switch off the breaker before you remove any panel to read a label.

Common questions
How do I know if my salt cell is bad?
If the cell is clean, salt is in range, flow is good and the water is warm enough, but the system still says Inspect Cell or won't make chlorine, the cell may be worn out. A tech can confirm on a short video call.
Will a generic salt cell work with my system?
Some compatible cells exist for popular systems. Your quote says whether it's OEM or compatible, and you can ask for OEM only.
Can I return a salt cell?
Unused parts are reviewed case by case; contact us before sending anything back. Boards, power centers and special orders can't be returned once ordered.
