Pool filter parts
Pool filters and filter parts
Cartridges matched by part number or measurements, plus the grids, valves, gauges and O-rings that keep a filter working.
When to clean vs replace
Pentair's cartridge filter guide says to clean when the gauge reads about 10 psi above the clean starting pressure, or when flow drops noticeably. Replace a cartridge when it won't come clean, the pleats are torn or flattened, the end caps are cracked, or the pressure climbs right back after cleaning.
Which part? Common symptoms
| What you're seeing | Parts often involved |
|---|---|
| High pressure soon after cleaning | Worn or clogged cartridge, DE grids |
| DE or sand returning to the pool | Torn grid, broken lateral, standpipe |
| Water out the backwash line in Filter | Multiport spider gasket |
| Gauge reads pressure with the pump off | Pressure gauge |
| Leak at the tank lid or clamp | Tank O-ring, clamp parts (stop and get it checked) |
Filters and filter parts we source
Complete filters (sand, cartridge, DE)
Replacement filter tanks matched to your pool size, pump and plumbing.
Common sign: Cracked tank, or a tech recommends replacing an old filter.
Filter cartridges
Replacement cartridges matched by the number on the old cartridge, or by length, diameter and end caps.
Common sign: High pressure soon after cleaning, torn pleats, or cloudy water.
DE grids & manifolds
DE filter grids (fingers), manifolds and internal parts.
Common sign: DE coming back into the pool.
Sand filter laterals & standpipes
Laterals, hubs, standpipes and filter sand or media.
Common sign: Sand coming back into the pool.
Multiport & push-pull valves
Valves, spider gaskets and handles for sand and DE filters.
Common sign: Water out the backwash line in Filter, or a valve that won't turn.
Gauges, air relief valves & tank O-rings
Pressure gauges, air relief valves, tank O-rings, clamps and drain caps.
Common sign: Gauge stuck or reading with the pump off, or a leaking lid.
Why the exact size matters
Cartridges that look the same can differ by a fraction of an inch or have a different end cap. A cartridge that's too short lets dirty water bypass the filter. The number on the end cap, or careful measurements plus your filter tank's model, gets you the right one.
Where to find the model and part numbers
- Filter tanks have a label on the tank with the model and filter area. Cartridges often have a number on the end cap.
- No number? Measure the cartridge's length, outside diameter and the hole at each end.
- Pump and breaker off, and relieve the pressure (gauge at 0) before you open the filter.

Common questions
How do I find my pool filter cartridge size?
Look for a number on the end cap. If there isn't one, measure the length, outside diameter and the hole at each end, and tell us the model on the filter tank. We'll match it.
How often should I replace my pool filter cartridge?
It depends on use and your water, so follow your filter's manual. Replace it when it won't come clean, is torn or cracked, or the pressure climbs right back after cleaning.
Can you match an old cartridge with no label?
Usually. Measurements plus your filter tank's model let us find the right cartridge or a compatible one, and your quote says which.
