Before you order: rule out the simple stuff
Most "bad heater" calls are really flow problems. Two safe checks first:
- The equipment has power: breaker on, timer or automation calling for it to run.
- Water is about halfway up the skimmer, the baskets are empty and the filter is clean.
Still not right? Don't guess at parts. Show a pool tech on a video call and get the exact cause first.

Common sign: Flow or pressure codes (ERR PS, LO, CHECK FLOW) with good flow.
High-limit switches & sensors

What to send us
A photo of the heater's rating plate (model, serial, gas type), the code on the display, and the old part's label if it's already out.
Where to find the model and part numbers
- Pumps have a label on the motor with model, horsepower, voltage and amps. Variable-speed pumps also have a label on the drive.
- Heaters have a rating plate, usually inside the access panel or on the side, with model and serial numbers.
- Salt cells and chlorinators have a label on the cell and on the control box.
- Turn the pump off and switch off the breaker before you remove any panel to read a label.

Common questions
Is it the pressure switch or a flow problem?
If you get a flow or pressure code with a clean filter, full pump speed and open valves, the pressure switch is a common suspect. Pentair's manual says to have a qualified tech check it if the light stays on after the filter has been serviced.
Can I replace a pool heater igniter myself?
Igniters, ignition modules and gas valves are combustion parts. Have a qualified pool heater tech install them.
Can I return a heater control board?
Boards and modules are electrical parts, and electrical parts and special orders can't be returned once ordered. A tech confirms the fault with you before you pay.
